Norma Fay Nicholson, A Canadian Founder

Some retire to rest.
Norma, retires to fight. She spent decades in hospitals, injustice, and hard truths.

She led healthcare teams
in youth jails
watching Black boys
get punished,
not protected.

She took notes.
She held space.
She stayed quiet…
until she couldn’t.

When she retired,
she kept a promise:
“I’ll do more on the outside
than I ever could within.”

And she did.

Norma began teaching
what the system never did:

– What the Youth Criminal Justice Act protects.
– How parents can intervene.
– Where to turn for support.
– Why silence is dangerous.

She’s written 3 books.

Mentored 1,200 youth in 2024.

Spoken across the world.

And given parents a voice.

She grew up poor,
angry,
and invisible.

Now?
She makes others feel
seen, strong, and safe.

Purpose isn’t always loud.

Sometimes it walks
3 times a day
with a rescue poodle
and rewrites the future.

Kindly give her a follow,
and check out her ongoing
youth empowerment projects
She is working on.

I’d love to hear your story.

LIVE IN THE PRESENT

“Life’s legacy is not what we leave behind. It is the way
we impact lives now. It’s also how those folks will, in turn,
impact the lives of others. I take great pride in being a
Volunteer in the youth justice program at AYSP. I have
experienced personal growth. I have learned new skills and made
new friends. I have also been recognized as someone who has
many applicable volunteer skills that I happily share. I
have a sense of purpose and fulfillment by positively
impacting young lives. Just seeing how one person can
Impact the lives of many, makes me a kinder and caring person

VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION

Never be a prisoner of your past

It was just a lesson

Not a life sentence

One of the many beautiful ways in which volunteering can help you live in the present is by creating a sense of purpose, finding a sense of belonging and leaving a legacy.
